| Project Type: Database Enhancements & Consulting Client: Lynda.com Project Description: Modify and enhance an existing integrated database system. Background: The Lynda.com organization is one of the nation's premier providers of books, training materials and classes involving web development and design. Lynda.com also operates the Ojai Digital Arts Center. The Ojai Digital Arts Center provides hands on classes in a variety of web development applications. All of the Lynda.com goods and classes can be purchased online at the Lynda.com web site. Their online database system is linked to an integrated backend database system that manages the Lynda.com products inventory, course offerings, customer lists and invoicing. Lynda.com wanted to modify and enhance the existing off the shelf FileMaker database system. Assignment: TooBaRoo was retained to modify and enhance the existing system. TooBaRoo added several reports to quickly calculate course attendee counts and platform requests, modified value lists, created context sensitive value lists, added several calculations and modified the system to allow for more control over the status of inventory items. |
